Jonathan Rummel ~ Hand Forged Works has been hammering out commissions, collaborations and one-of-a-kind installations since 2003. With the help of a group of talented assistants and craftspeople, HFW has produced hundreds of custom projects that run the gamut in form, function and scale. Everything is custom tailored to the space, expressing a vision and fitting the client’s needs.

HFW was born over the course of 4 years of living and working with Glen Harcourt and his artisan’s guild called Steeprock, in the mountains near Telluride, Colorado. Green design/build, alternative energy, traditional craftsmanship and adventure were a way of life. HFW was formed upon returning to Massachusetts in 2003.

In the early years, space was rented and projects were produced within the studios of master craftsmen George Martell and Carl Close Jr. Both of whom shared a lifetime of experience and knowledge. Dereck Glaser, Charlie Orlando, Doug Wilson and the New England School of Metalwork were also early sources of inspiration and experience.

HFW operated out of an old metal/wood shop at the former AT+T/Lucent (now Amazon) complex in North Andover from 2006-2019. Currently utilizing a 3rd generation blacksmith shop and a state of the art metal fabrication facilities in the area to produce work while the future shop facility is being developed…

Designer, artisan, builder, photographer, drummer, mountain biker, motorcycle enthusiast and garden wizard, Jonathan wears many hats and thrives on diversity.
